Because I needed a laugh this morning.
December 18, 2007I just played in the Messiah this last weekend. Rewarding, mostly. I have to gripe that Handel didn’t give any breaks to the lead instrumentalists in each section. Seriously, I play every single measure, but about 11. Which makes me exhausted by the end! My arms are still sore… Anyway, some friends of ours pointed out the funniest Youtube video. Well, it isn’t technically a video, it is just a black picture with background music. But, I laughed so hard that I cried. Which I guess isn’t all that hard for me to do these days. Stupid Pregnancy Hormones!

did a cat jump on the organ? I’m thinking it must have been a cat. Cat’s are evil and that’s the kind of thing a cat would do so I’m betting on a cat…
other possibilities:
Someone shot the organist and that was his/her final collapsing spasm
The organist suffered from a gran mal seizure at used all resources just to stay off the floor
He/she had stroke perhaps during the performance?
I had to listen to it twice just to be sure it was really as bad as it sounded. I do feel bad for him/her though (in a “I’d hate to be the guy who caused that train wreck” kind of way)

As a pianisit and organist (though not a great organist – not great enough for the Messiah anyway) after I finished laughing hysterically I felt rather bad for the poor bloke as I have had similar (to me anyway) train wrecks.
I’m just happy the poor organist was able to resolve it to the proper chord for the end. Up until then, I had this nasty, nasty twitch going on…
